I explained that she didn't need to buy a separate policy and that if Nationwide had already agreed to insure her without excluding liability for her dog; then she already had the liability coverage that she was required to carry by law. She had a previous incident with her dog and had an open claim with her previous homeowner insurance company. The previous homeowner insurer cancelled her. And Nationwide agreed to insure her without excluding liability for her dog and despite the fact that she had an open claim...which is unusual in the insurance industry. Under the American With Disabilities Act, she cannot be required to carry liability insurance for her dog. I suggested that she discuss this with the property manager. Our 9 month old pit bull puppy "Tyson" scratched a jogger with his claws and was ruled vicious. I wont go into that scenerio as thats a 3 page statement. I will make it short and sweet People hate and are scared of Pit bulls and want them all dead. Anyway as with most we have homeowners insurance that should cover us if an issue should arise but if I ever had a claim I know they would cancel me in a second and where ever I might find it would be astronomical. The safest bet for us was a special policy just for the dog. Our local rabies control people were extremely nice and sympethetic but were not aware of Dog liability policies.. So off to the magic internet I went. Thank God Chase was one of the first few I found.. I navigated through there website but honestly I was still upset as I had just left the board meeting where our dog was ruled vicious. I used the online chat to ask a some questions. Evidently she could sense what kind of future customer she had so she asked me to call. She slowly went over every singe detail of what the policy was also explaining each requirement that I must meet in my county to maintain a vicious dog (she actually took the time to pull up my county) I cannot say enough.. I purchased the insurance by phone and I also need to note it was a Friday around 4pm central time. I told her if I didnt get this done and get rabies control a copy before 4:30 the dog would have to stay another weekend at the pound. He had already been there 10 days. Well Chase took control, took my money emailed me all the necessary papers AND sent them to rabies control for me via fax. She also called them to verify they received the fax.. My father was terminally ill in the hospital several years ago and even though they got to milk insurance for extreme daily rates and a 1200.00 back brace for a man in a coma that would never even use it or the 800.00 mattress for his home that he would never see again, I truly felt that he was merely an insurance check for them and for the most part not a sole there cared whether he lived or died and here is my dog alive and well and we have Chase Insurance to thank. They really cared about my dog and what kind of owners he has!!! Sincerely John Long
